The aim of the activity is to raise pupils\u2019 awareness of women dedication to science and the respect and recognition of their accomplishments by society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Students will become familiar with the life of Prof. Ana Aslan, who became well known internationallythrough the development of the first drug created to delay the aging process, Gerovital H3.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

OTOPENI, Romania – The Ana Aslan National Institute of Gerontology and Geriatrics, founded by Prof. Ana Aslan, MD, in 1952, is the first Institute of Geriatrics and Gerontology in the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

TEACHING PRACTICE (STEP BY STEP)<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. Brainstorming<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The activity begins with a short brainstorming about the gender stereotype \u201cHard science is still profoundly associated with masculinity\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Examples ( Boys are more oriented towards science and practical activities, girls are more idealistic than boys, the number of successful men in sciences is higher, women cannot have a career, they have to take care of the family)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. Interactive debate<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Do you agree that there are no enough successful women in science? Can you argument why?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Individually, the participants formulate points of view for and against the debated stereotype. Student will state, in a convincing way, both arguments\/counterarguments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. Demonstration, visual aids https:\/\/youtu.be\/n-Cxlgp2-t4<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Discussions will follow regarding the opinion of the listeners after knowing the material presented.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After watching the video on the life of Prof. Ana Aslan, students will be able to draw the conclusion about the proposed topic: There is a need to focus on career awareness and planning to empower girls to pursue a STEAM profession.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4. Research<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Students are invited to search for internet more examples of successful  women.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
