Emily set out to interview women in STEM about their careers and shared those interviews with teachers and fellow students. But she quickly ran into a problem. She didn\u2019t have any STEM role models. Encouraged by her former science teacher Sharon Mistretta, the teen searched the internet for women in STEM to interview. Then she sent emails asking for those women to speak with her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Semistructured interview with female role models in STEAM<\/p>\n\n\n\n

TEACHING PRACTICE (STEP BY STEP)<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PROJECT-BASED LEARNING – Use this inspiring video to persuade pupils to interview STEAM women themselves and create their own videos. Ask them to prepare the questions for STEAM ROLEMODELS, and then choose at least two role models and interview them online using skype\/Meet Teams, Zoom or in writing. Two weeks later they will bring their registration or written interviews to class.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are going to be three categories of prizes done by an ad-hoc jury chosen who will create their own Marking Scheme:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. The most original interview<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. The most relevant Role Model<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. The funniest interview<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Emily Koehne, 17, decided not to wait. She actively search out female role models in STEM and shares her interviews with them on her own YouTube channel.Ss are persuaded to do the same being assessd by their peers and teacher.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
