TYPE OF THE ACTIVITY:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking competition with the topic STEAM<\/p>\n\n\n\n

DURATION:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

2 sessions of 45-50 minutes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

TEACHING AID<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Role model: Particle physicist Claire Lee is a non-traditional scientist. Lee\u2019s performance background and comfort on stage are certain advantages when it comes to communicating science in front of large audiences<\/p>\n\n\n\n

TEACHING PRACTICE (STEP BY STEP)<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A motivational material that shows that scientists can be non-traditional people: \u201cShe is one of us\u201d can be used for a public speaking competition. The Public Speaking will be organized in this way:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1.The speech will last for 5 minutes the maximum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2.The approach is at the student\u2019s choice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3.The class will receive some numbers from 1-5 written on a piece of paper and all of the students will raise their numbers to show their appreciation for the speech.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4. One of the students is the \u201caccountant\u201d who will write the name of the students and the total points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

5.In the end the winner will be named and applauses will be her\/his reward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
